A Letter of Thanks

Every other week, as the President of the Youngstown Columbiana Area Realtors®, I write some sort of editorial piece on the state of real estate in our beloved Mahoning Valley. With wisdom and wit, each article is meant to impart some sort of understanding, clarity and knowledge, helping all residents of our Valley feeling confident in their ownership of a home, the process of finding a home and the relationships they have with trust experts, the REALTORS® of our area. We have talked about the impact the stock market has on property values. We have talked about the impact of the Fed's rates have on property values. However, this week's article is directed towards a special group of people who, while they help our communities, may not realize the impact they have on the very home you are sitting in while reading this piece.

To the Heroes of Our Community,
Over the last 4 months, I have watched the heroes I have always hoped would...

YOUNGSTOWN, OH (July 27, 2020) – For the third consecutive year, Burgan Real Estate led all real estate agencies affiliated with the Youngstown Columbiana Association of REALTORS® (YCAR) by having the most agents (22) earning the distinguished President's Sales Club Award for 2020. The Ohio REALTORS® (OR) present this award to individual Ohio real estate agents who successfully generated at least $1 million in annual home sales for the year. With more than 40% of Burgan Real Estate agents receiving this award, the 43-year old, second-generation, independently owned brokerage also boasted the highest percentage of their active agents receiving this distinction in the Mahoning Valley for the third consecutive year as well.

"It is hard to think that we could top the record-breaking years our agents helped us achieve in 2018 and 2019. However, our culture encourages all of us to be 'better,' and we are especially proud of how these 22 agents embraced this mantra in earning t...

Paying taxes are a part of our way of life. They help provide for the very things that help our society continue to move forward. While Covid-19 even managed to cancel the normal April 15th tax filing, the new deadline is quickly approaching on July 15th. And while you're trying to find those receipts for deductions you put in a "safe place" so you wouldn't forget them when it came to filing your taxes back in December, new home buyers may overlook the impact property taxes will have on their bottom line. But don't worry, I, along with your trusted REALTORS® from YCAR are here to cut through some of the confusion about property taxes so you don't overlook anything that could cost you hundreds, possibly thousands, of dollars that could be in your pocket.

While you may think that property taxes are just another way of the government taking money from you, well, you're right, but it is for a good reason. Property taxes are raised by our local governments to provide important p...

It takes a special eye to become a real estate property investor and manager. There is plenty of work involved but also plenty of opportunity if you know what you are looking for in a property. Being able to look through all the fluff to the core of a property and the potential it brings to you is a rare trait that few possess. For Andrea Thompson, she had been eyeing a particular opportunity and when it was presented to her, she jumped at the opportunity to become the latest real estate agent to join Burgan Real Estate.

A Girard native, Andrea has been investing in properties since 2010. Her passion for working on houses and finding properties that have potential has led her to owning three single family rental units. With all of the opportunity she saw in buying properties, she also saw the opportunity to help people buy their own dream home. So, she decided to become a licensed REALTOR® and knew the best place for her was to bring her talents to the Burgan Bunch.

(Canfield, OH) 05/27/20 – Burgan Real Estate, the Mahoning Valley's independently, family-owned real estate company for 43 years, announced today Maeson Green is the winner of the John Burgan Entrepreneurship Award. The $2,400 award, donated by Patrick Burgan in honor of his father, John Burgan, was established for Youngstown State University Williamson College of Business Administration students who believed they had a great idea for a new business. Green, a Sophomore Management Major and graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, was awarded the cash prize for his plan to support the expansion of his business, MBG Restoring, LLC., a company specializing in the restoration of sneakers.
"We hoped that this award would bring forth ideas and creativity from students to live out a dream they had of starting or growing their own business, the same way my father helped me when I was just 10 years old," said Patrick Burgan, co-broker and second-generation owner of Burgan Real Estate,...
