WE ARE SO PROUD TO BE PART OF THE NOVAK FAMILY'S DREAM HOME AND THE BOARDMAN COMMUNITY. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK AND TIRELESS EFFORT. |
On Mother's Day of 2005, the Novak family spent their morning hiking and playing in the park. That evening, Jeff and wife Jackie settled down and watched "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," as they did every Sunday. After the show, they kissed each other good night and exchanged "I love you's," as they always did.
Neither had any idea it would be the last thing they would ever say to each other.
An hour later, Jeff brought their newborn, Presley, into bed for a feeding. But Jackie didn't wake up. At the young age of 28, Jackie, the mother of three girls, was pronounced dead of a pulmonary embolism. |

On Oct. 14, 2005, TV reality hit "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" came to Boardman, and this grieving father and his three girls received the wake-up call of a lifetime.
When host Ty Pennington knocked on the Novak's door, the family was whisked away on a vacation while a new, custom-designed home with more space, more style and modern amenities was built compliments of the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" crew, Canfield based TC Quality Homes and an ever growing list of community volunteers.
The 76 year old colonial home in which the Novak's lived had raw sewage that annually filled the basement. It was a house in which the shower leaked into the kitchen and family room below. A house having three girls and one bathroom.
The only solution was to demolish and rebuild the Novak's home with modern amenities, more room and style.
In 106 hours, the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and TC Quality Homes crew constructed a beautiful new home for the Novak's.
How did Burgan Real Estate become involved you may ask? Well, Burgan Real Estate Ltd., represents T.C. Quality Homes in their Westbury Park development in Canfield, Ohio. While at a preliminary meeting, it was mentioned that a site to nearby would be beneficial for this project, so company owner John Burgan did what he does best, he started negotiations to purchase a nearby home. The home that was purchased at 87 Arlene was just across the street from the Novak home!
In a matter of days, that home was transformed into a full media house! The "Burgan House" hosted media members from television to radio. Clear Channel Radio broadcasted a variety of daily shows and Cumulus Media Company's, WQXK, K-105 FM even moved their studio to Arlene Dr. for live broadcasts the entire week! WYTV, Channel 33 broadcasted daily their 5-7am, 5pm, 6pm and 11pm live news casts from a stage in our front yard.
We hosted the media members with coffee donated by Marlowe's, fax and copy machines from American Business Center (ABC), furniture from Aaron's Furniture Rental and food donated by numerous valley businesses.
Burgan Real Estate Ltd., would like to take this opportunity to thank those who donated their products and time towards making this an "Extremely" memorable week for all of us!
